AP Governor accepts high-powered panel’s recommendation on bifurcation

Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan on Monday accepted the high-powered committee recommendations on the State bifurcation issues related to Schedule IX and Schedule X and directed the officials to forward it to the Centre for issuance of a notification.

While Schedule IX deals with corporations/companies/societies, Schedule X deals with 22 Government departments.

According to a statement, the Governor has directed the officials to complete all the formalities of the State bifurcation before May 15.

Detailing the action taken so far under Schedule X, the State Chief Secretary PK Mohanty informed that the apex committee has reviewed the draft recommendations and finalised after detailed discussions with the departments concerned, by following standard operating procedures.

Under Schedule X, the 22 government departments are essentially important for both the States and hence should be divided along with the parent department, he clarified.

Special Chief Secretary to Government, Pradeep Chandra, presenting the recommendations of the apex committee under Schedule IX, informed that a total of 89 companies/corporations/societies are listed under Schedule IX.

He said the committee has identified 20 undertakings for immediate reorganisation based on the services, revenue generation provided by the undertakings such as transport, electricity, housing and seed distribution.

The committee has recommended for taking immediate steps for creating two separate entities to function on and from the appointed day.
