The Hyderabad metro rail project has been allotted a 15 acre site in the IT hub of Hyderabad, which will enable it to extend the line by a km and set up a terminal station.
The allotment was made by the Andhra Pradesh Government and Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd, the nodal agency for land allotment. This move is based on the recommendations of a Special Task Force created for the project.
State Principal Secretary and Commissioner for Industrial Promotion K. Pradeep Chandra has ordered the allotment through a Government Order issued on Tuesday.
The land will enable the metro project developers L&T to set up a large terminal point with related infrastructure. This terminal will be designed with a parking space for the thousands of IT staff working in the business hub.
The allotment of land for the Rs 14,132-crore elevated metro project will enable the metro developers to extend the line by about a km. The metro project has already been allotted 269 acres covering terminal stations.
The State Government will invest about Rs 2,000 crore in related infrastructure and compensation for land acquisition etc.
The 15-acre site will be handed over to the metro project by collecting Rs 9 crore per acre towards development charges. This additional stretch will mean extra outlay of Rs 200 crore.
