The Andhra Pradesh Government will formulate a new land acquisition act, according to Deputy Chief Minister, K E Krishnamurthy.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he said the purpose of the proposed act was to facilitate land acquisition for the new capital and institutes/offices to be set up in view of the bifurcation.
"We have also decided to not to implement the New Land Acquisition Act which came into effect from January 1, 2014," the Deputy Chief Minister said.
The Government has also directed all joint collectors and revenue division officers to submit details about the availability of government land and other requirements within two months to promulgate the new land acquisition act, he added.
There was also severe shortage of surveyors in the revenue department besides short-comings in the functioning of village revenue officers, he said, adding that they would be streamlined.
