In what can be good news for cement makers, the Andhra Pradesh will be procuring 3 million tonnes (mt) of cement for various government works.
The Department of Industries of the State government will notify factory-wise the procurement rates to be followed by all the engineering departments. An electronic platform for indenting the cement required for public works, its delivery and utilisation will be designed.
These decisions were taken in a review meeting on ensuing cement availability chaired by Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao here on Wednesday.
SS Rawat Industries Secretary, had already conducted a meeting with the cement manufacturers to arrive at an agreement on cement procurement prices.
The Centre had recently notified cement procurement rates for national highway projects in the range of ₹171 and ₹220 a bag which are below the market rates.
