The Andhra Pradesh Government is exploring the option of crowd funding initiative for the development of the capital city of Amaravati.

The foundation for the capital city is expected to be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 22.

During a review meeting at the CM Camp Office in Vjayawada on Wednesday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was informed that the crowd funding initiative will have a digital brick through which people can have their names engraved on it and make a contribution to the new capital from any place in the world. “This will bring a sense of ownership of the capital,” the Chief Minister explained.

Given that many enthusiastic people from the State would be willing to attend the event, the Chief Minister has asked to expand the capacity of the event to cover over one lakh people.

The event will also have a special performance called “Raithu Vandanam” thanking farmers for their contribution to the Capital.

“This will also involve farmers from the villages and artists,” the Chief Minister was informed.

Stating that the foundation laying should be celebrated across the world by all Telugus, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that all the pots in which the soil from 16,000 villages are placed in a space which will retain the holiness with which they have been brought to the venue.

“Kids of future generations should come to the spot and understand the contributions made by their ancestors. This spot should be the most peaceful place in the State,” the Chief Minister added.

The Capital, according to the Chief Minister should reflect the blue and green theme, indicating water and greenery.

“The People’s Capital will be a symbol of sustainability and simultaneously, reflect the historic roots to Buddhism,” he added.

The Amaravati Pavilion which will give a peek into history and future of the Capital will also have ‘Time Capsule’ with a series of events, narrating how “Amaravati – the People’s Capital” came into being, according to a statement.
