The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has come out with Electricity Grid Code Regulation for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, seeking comments and suggestions and also convening public hearing.
In two separate notifications, the regulator has sought to lay down the rules, guidelines and standards to be followed by various agencies and participants in the intra-State transmission system.
This is to plan, develop, maintain and operate the intra-State transmission system, a part of the Southern Region Grid System, in a reliable and efficient manner.
The draft regulations have been published inviting comments and suggestions. In another development with regard to power generation and distribution, a meeting of the Southern Regional Load Dispatch Centre was held in Bangalore to highlight issues relating to supply of power and the need to abide by the rules of grid management.
The issue assumes importance in the backdrop of the recent moves by the Andhra Pradesh Government to scrap power purchase agreements with distribution companies.
It was felt that any such unilateral move will cause disruption to the electricity lading to unnecessary pressure on the grid, even possibly leading to its sudden collapse within the transmission network.
