Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have agreed to resolve the water sharing issue which has become a major problem between the states.
This development follows a meeting Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao had at Raj Bhavan in the presence of Governor ESL Narasimhan today.
Both the CMs agreed to meet today a day after where there was tension between the officials of both the states after they failed to reach any consensus.
In fact, some officials and cops had come close to trading blows on Friday at Nagarjunasagar where talks were held over release of water for the farm sector.
Differences cropped up with both states laying claim for right to release water as per their respective shares.
A formal announcement on the progress in talks is expected later today.
