Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation to initiate proceedings for the cancellation of land allotment to Lepakshi Knowledge Park.
APIIC is the nodal agency for the allocation of land and facilitation for industries.
About 8,848 acres at Gorantla and Chilmattur in Anatapur district of Andhra Pradesh were allocated for the setting up of Lepakshi knowledge hub as a special economic zone.
The land was allotted in February 2009. The decision to cancel the allotment of land was taken for violation of contractual terms. Other details are awaited.
The SEZ was to be developed as a multi-product exclusive zone. It was proposed to develop aerospace and defence cluster, agri-food processing and other zones all at one place.
