Asianet, a leading multi-system operator in Kerala, has added 13 high-definition (HD) channels to beef up the HD channel bouquet to 30 ahead of the Onam festival.
Increased sales of panel TV sales and HD set-up boxes and higher consumer demand for content have prompted the operator to introduce the new channels in one go.
VARIED GENRES
They offer diverse content in the genres of general entertainment, music, movies, infotainment and lifestyle, a spokesman for the operator said.
The company is offering the HD channels in three packages starting with Gold HD pack, Platinum HD pack and the premium Emerald HD pack.
It also offers Standard Definition (SD) packages suitably prices as to cater to almost all cross sections of the audience.
350 CHANNELS
Binu George, executive vice president, Asianet, said that the HD and SD formats will be ramped up to beyond 350 channels soon with more than 50 HD channels alone.
Asianet has introduced different models of set-top boxes manufactured by Cisco and LG.
It is also the first to introduce the Android HD set-top box, which enables viewing of a channel on TV and another on a smartphone, with recording option.
According to George, the company is on a mission to accomplish digitisation as mandated by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the Phase III towns in Kerala.
