The Timken Foundation through the Rotary Club of Bangalore has donated ₹70 lakh to Sankara Eye Hospital to purchase a 60-seater bus for use as a mobile vision centre for its rural community outreach programme. The bus will be used to transport over 6,000 patients a year to Sankara Eye Hospital. The mobile vision centre will screen over 50,000 children in the State under ‘Nanna Kannu’, a comprehensive eye care programme for children aged up to 16 years.
