The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI) and Bangalore Wholesale Food Grains and Pulses Merchants Association plan to sell toor dal at Rs 130 per kg to consumers.
The Karnataka Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, U T Khader, will launch the sale of toor dal in 2 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg packs on Friday at the Bangalore Wholesale Food Grains and Pulses Merchants Association, M G Complex, APMC Yard Yeshwanthpur.
M C Dinesh, President, FKCCI, said: "We (FKCCI and Wholesale Food Grains Association) are doing this to contain the retail prices of toor dal which have skyrocketed to over Rs 200 per kg. This initative is purely by the wholesalers."
Ramesh Chandra Lahoti, President, Bangalore Wholesale Food Grains and Pulses Merchants Association, said: "Sale will be held simultaneously in other cities in the state at Mysuru, Tumkuru, Mandya, Kalbargi (Gulbarga), Hubballi, Bidar. The sale will also be held at New Taragupet, Mysore Road in Bengaluru."
