Kolkata and several districts of West Bengal including West Midnapore, Purulia, Bankura and Birbhum are to receive more heavy spells of rain in the next two days.
The city and the southern and western parts of the state have been lashed by heavy rains in the last 48 hours, inundating several low-lying areas.
According to a weather department official at the Alipore Met office, there will be heavy to very heavy rain over West Midnapore, South 24 Parganas, Bankura, Birbhum, Purulia and West Burdwan districts.
“The situation will persist for the next 48 hours,” he said.
