Cubbon Park and Vidhana Soudha metro stations in Bengaluru to get ‘Interactive Art Installations’ from San Francisco and would soon be installed.
The Letter of Intent (LOI) was recently signed by Mayor of San Francisco Edwin Lee and Gaurav Gupta, Karnataka Commissioner for Industrial Development in presence of Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Tourism, R V Deshpande at San Francisco.
Under the aegis of ‘Invest Karnataka 2016’, a Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed between the cities of San Francisco and Bengaluru to have co-operation in the field of technological interventions in arts, culture and museums, as a part of the sister initiatives between the two cities.
The ‘Interactive Art installations’ are aimed at sparking imagination and public interaction.
Art and technology installations will be constructed at public places near Cubbon Park and Vidhana Soudha metro stations as well as San Francisco’s Civic Centre Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station.
The cleaning and sprucing up of the public spaces will be done by art colleges and organizations in Bengaluru and San Francisco.
“With this LoI the government recognizes the vital role that art plays in strengthening community,” said Gaurav Gupta.
The partnership project is expected to complete within 18 months. This collaboration in the field of public art is the result of a high-level delegation led by the minister which toured the US and France ahead of Invest Karnataka 2016, Karnataka's flagship global investors meet to be held in February.
