President Pranab Mukherjee has given one more week to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly to discuss and finalise its views on the draft AP Re-Organisation Bill.
The original deadline ends today. The President referred it to the House 42 days ago, asking it to discuss it. The House will have to wind up discussions by January 30.
The House, however, lost several working days as Seemandhra legislators belonging to all political parties opposed to the creation of Telangana disrupted proceedings. It began a serious debate only after the Sankranti vacation.
The State Government had written to the President last week, requesting him to extend the deadline as a majority of the members were yet to express their views.
