The BJP has asked its ministers and senior party leaders to visit State capitals and apprise the public on the disruption of the recently concluded Parliament session by the Congress members, according to Minister of State for Commerce and Industries Nirmala Sitharaman.
The Congress party has stalled passage of several economic legislations, including the Goods and Services Tax Bill (GST) and Land Bill, in the recently concluded Parliament session, she told newspersons.
Each minister and a senior leader will hold press meets across the country. One Minister and at least four BJP MPs will hold public meetings in the 44 Lok Sabha constituencies held by the Congress party. “We want to inform the people of the government’s stand and the anti-democratic stance of the Congress,” she said.
Similar meetings will be held in the six Lok Sabha constituencies held by the communist parties, she said.
On the GST Bill, she said it was the Congress that brought it in 2006 to bring the entire country in to a single market with a uniform taxation system. The Congress party is saying that while it wants the GST, it does not want the present Bill.
“The Congress is adopting the same tactics it used for the Land Bill,” she said.
