By taking strict and swift action against party leader Dayashankar Singh, who had made derogatory remarks against BSP chief Mayawati on Wednesday, the BJP had shown that it would not compromise on the issue of dignity of women, Union Minister Uma Bharti said on Thursday.

“What Dayashankar has said about Mayawati, it should not have been said for any woman,” Bharti said outside Parliament. Singh, who was the BJP’s UP Vice-President, was expelled from the party for remarks which invited strong protests across all political parties in Parliament and outside.
