The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has urged the Election Commission of India to direct immediate registration of an FIR against Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) President Pravin Togadia for “vitiating the peaceful atmosphere during elections''.
On Saturday evening in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, Togadia had targeted Muslims for buying properties in certain areas.
As per media reports, Togadia in his speech gave Muslim families 48 hours to vacate their houses, failing which he reportedly said that his followers would take forcible possession of the houses.
Terming the act as “shocking and shameful”, going against the Constitution of India which provides equality and freedom for every citizen, AAP said in a release that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi should publicly repudiate this act, and take strict action against Togadia.
