British Deputy High Commissioner Ian Felton had concluded his three-day visit to Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Thursday.

A press release by the office of the British Deputy High Commissioner in Bangalore said here that Ian Felton’s team visited Dharmasthala on October 9 and Manipal on October 10.

His team visited Mangalore on October 11 on an outreach programme to explore business opportunities for the UK in budding tier-II cities such as Mangalore.

It said that Felton hosted a reception for Mangalore’s businesspersons.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the bilateral trade in goods between India and Britain increased by about 20 per cent last year.

He said the UK’s visa regime supports business. “We provide special services for major investors, regular travellers, and high value customers. These give applicants access to premium lounges, quicker turnaround times, and dedicated sources of advice and assistance,’’ he said.

Felton said: “I want to encourage you to consider investing in the UK, if you are not already there. We are open to business from India.’’
