BRS Ventures, AP ink MoU for investment of Rs 12,000 cr in Amaravati

BRS Ventures of Abu Dhabi and Andhra Pradesh Government have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which entails an investment of Rs 12,000 crore in healthcare, setting up of a university, tourism, hospitality and infrastructure in the new capital city of Amaravati.

Dr. BR Shetty, a businessman from Abu Dhabi has committed an investment of $ 1.8 Billion (about Rs 12,000 crore) in Andhra Pradesh. Shetty has business interests in hospitals (NMC Group of Hospitals), hospitality, educational institutions, financial services (UAE Exchange and Travelex), pharmaceuticals (Neopharma), ports, infrastructure and other businesses.

The MoU was inked by BRS Ventures represented promoter Dr. B.R. Shetty, Chairman, BRS Ventures and the Andhra Pradesh Government represented by J. Krishna Kishore, IRS, CEO, Economic Development Board, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

State Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu wanted BRS Ventures to quickly complete the projects assuring the land allotment and clearances will be accorded at the earliest.

The investments include setting up of a 3500-bed hospital. Of this, by December 2018, a 1500-bed hospital will come up in Amaravati. The health care facilities will follow a hub and spoke strategy which ensures that everybody in the region gets comprehensive health care coverage.

Other initiatives include a 300 bed hospital in Kurnool, a medical analytics centre and the Asia’s first quantum computing centre in Amravati with a focus on medical research enhancement, to be completed by December 2018.

As a part of the investments, other initiatives include, setting up of a Medical University in collaboration with a global Ivy League university as a knowledge partner, a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit in AP, a Knowledge process outsourcing centre, to be set up by December 2018.

The Amaravati medical Knowledge Process Outsourcing Centre will become the backbone knowledge provider to a large number of medical institutions and corporations across the globe. The investment company has proposed a golf course and an integrated hospitality ecosystem in Amaravati, preferably in one of the river islands of the Krishna river, to be completed in Phase II.

A hospitality ecosystem in amalgamation with our golf course project in form of a 5 star hotel along with a convention centre will be set up in phase I and II, to cater to the growing needs of this upcoming iconic city of Amaravati.
