BSA Workouts, the fitness equipment division of TI Cycles of India, has launched its first experience centre. “This will not be a retail outlet. The idea is to allow consumers to come and experience our fitness equipment,” said KR Chandrasekaran, Chief Operating Officer, TI Cycles. The company will launch similar centres in other cities too, in phases.
The fitness equipment market in India is pegged at ₹1,000 crore. Of this, the home gym equipment segment accounts for ₹400 crore. “Though we have equipment for commercial, semi-commercial and home gyms, our key target market will be the home gym segment,” he said.
According to him, BSA Workouts currently commands less than 10 per cent of the home gym segment. With increasing awareness about fitness among aware consumers, the market is growing at 15-20 per cent every year. “We would like to cash in on this growth wave and double our market share in the next five years to reach a ₹100-crore turnover,” Chandrasekaran said. BSA Workouts imports all its equipment from countries, including China and Taiwan, and markets across India, piggybacking on its cycle distribution network.
