In wake of collapse of an illegal building in Mumbra township which claimed 74 lives, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) on Wednesday started a 24-hour call centre to receive complaints regarding the unauthorised constructions in the city.
TMC receives complaints from time to time from various persons regarding the unauthorised constructions in the city.
To effectively deal with these complaints, the call centre has been set up, an official release by TMC said here today.
A social worker had reportedly complained about the illegal building at Lucky Compound in Mumbra near Shil Phata area of Thane district, which came down crashing on April 4. However, no action was allegedly taken over the complaint before the collapse.
The call centre will take stock of the action taken on the complaints from the citizens of the unauthorised constructions and co-ordinate with the civic officials.
All the complaints received in the call centre will be recorded and forwarded to the concerned section and a compliance report will be given to the Commissioner within three days of its receipt after its verification, the release added.
