The West Bengal Government should carry out significant infrastructure renewal and expansion programmes to boost industrial growth, an Assocham report said.
To be released on Wednesday, the report titled ‘West Bengal: Unfolding Growth Strategy’, added that the land acquisition procedure should be more regulated in the state and the auction process should be started to determine proper compensation prices.
According to Sanjay Jhunjhunwala, Chairman, Eastern Region Development Council of Assocham, it is necessary to address lack of basic amenities in industry ready land areas.
Small and medium enterprises sector have better prospects in the state and one SME can create 500 to 1,000 employment in a year or two, he told reporters on the sidelines of a press conference here on Tuesday.
