Cargill interested in more investments in Karnataka

Siddaramaiah meets WEF Chairman

Cargill Inc has expressed interest in making additional investments in Karnataka.

Interacting with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on the second-day at the World Economic Forum meet in China’s Dalian province, Stan Ryan, Platform Leader, Cargill Inc, expressed the company’s interest in the State.

The Cargill has taken up a project of starch manufacturing in Davanagere with an investment of Rs 480 crore.

Stan Ryan was joined by Siraj Choudhary, Head of Cargill Group, India. The company is a global producer and marketer of food, agricultural, financial and industrial products and services.

The Chief Minister welcomed the interest shown by the company and told them to take up new projects in the area of services and food processing.

Siddaramaiah, on the second day, had a fruitful meeting with Klaus Schwab, Executive Chairman of World Economic Forum, and highlighted the potential of Karnataka and the fast pace of growth happening in IT, aerospace and automobile sectors.

Chief Minister also discussed developments in agriculture and economy and WEF’s initiative in this area.

QI group

Later, the Chief Minister met Vijay Eswaran, Executive Chairman of the Qi group. QI group, founded in 1998, is a multinational conglomerate comprising regional offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines and a wide range of subsidiary companies in nearly 30 countries.

The group has expressed interest in investing in e-retail and IT education Sector.

ACCIONA

Siddaramaiah also met Carmen Becerril, Chief International Officer, Acciona SA. Acciona has a presence in Karnataka in the wind energy sector and the Chief Minister invited the company to take up more investments in wind and other sectors.

The company has expressed interest in investing in wastewater treatment, rooftop solar projects and wind energy.

Israel

Chief Minister met Avi Hasson, Chief Scientist Director – R&D Administration, Ministry of Economy, Israel. The Israeli official expressed keen interest in engaging with Karnataka as the State is the R&D hub of the country.

The Karnataka delegation said the government had entered into an MOU with Matimop, R & D agency of the Israel government for sharing of technical knowhow.

Haohe Engineering

Siddaramaiah met Kenneth Zhang Yixiao, Chief Executive Officer, Haohe Engineering and Construction Co Ltd. The company is in construction business for 30 years all over China.

The Karnataka delegation explained the fast growth of the Bangalore city and its infrastructure needs. The delegation gave information about infrastructure projects such as peripheral ring road and other PPP projects in Infrastructure sector.

The delegation invited the company to explore possibilities of engaging with Karnataka.
