Healthcare of cattle forms important part in animal husbandry, as productivity is dependent on health of cattle.
Inaugurating a technical seminar on ‘brucellosis’ (a cattle disease) here on Friday, Ravikumar Kakade, Managing Director of Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd, said that cattle are prone to many diseases.
The incidence of brucellosis disease is low in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. However, farmers cannot neglect this, and adequate precautionary measures should be taken to prevent this.
Outbreak of such diseases would have an impact on the productivity, which, in turn, will impact the interests of farmers, he said.
Because of measures taken in the direction of animal healthcare and various other issues, Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd could achieve a turnover of Rs 400 crore during the last fiscal, he said.
