The Karnataka government has decided to comply with the Supreme Court’s directive to release 2,000 cusecs of water a day to Tamil Nadu till further orders.
‘Order implementable’Reacting to the apex court order issued on Tuesday, a senior government official said: “Today’s order to relase 2,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu is implementable.”
A three-judge Bench led by Justice Dipak Misra on Tuesday, directed Karnataka to release 2,000 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
The apex court also asked Karnataka and Tamil Nadu governments to maintain peace and harmony in the respective states.
