The Minister for Environment, Anil Madhav Dave, has promised a resolution to the ban on Jallikattu by Saturday at the latest.
The Tamil Nadu Government has forwarded a proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs to amend the State chapter of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Sources said the proposal has received a nod from the Home Ministry and is awaiting approval from the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change and the Ministry of Law.
It is expected that the Centre would introduce an ordinance to allow the traditional sports by removing bull from the list of animals prohibited from performing.
Dave, while addressing the media, said, "We want to protect the cultural values of Tamil Nadu. We are looking for a permanent solution."
