The Centre on Friday released ₹ 2,014.45-crore assistance to Tamil Nadu, according to an official press release.
The assistance includes ₹ 1,748.28-crore for drought relief for the Kharif season, ₹ 264.11 crore for relief associated with Vardha cyclone and ₹ 2.06 crore under the National Rural Drinking Water Programme.
The funding was approved by a High Level Committee meeting chaired by the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, on March 23.
The Committee considered the recommendations of the Inter-Ministerial Central Team that visited Tamil Nadu to assess the situation and that of the Sub Committee of the National Executive Committee and approved the assistance.
