The Union Coal and Power Minister, Piyush Goyal, on Thursday said the Centre was working on an incentive scheme for states which will provide a fillip to pump storage of power.
The scheme, he said, will help states like West Bengal.
Goyal said this at the Bengal Global Business Summit.
The incentives are likely to be provided out of the National Clean Energy fund.
"We are looking at an incentive scheme to be provided to states who opt for pump storage of power. This will help West Bengal too," Goyal said.
He also urged the State to come under the "UDAY" scheme. So far, 15 out of 29 States have come under the scheme.
