Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today performed puja for temporary works for the new Capital at Velagapudi near Vijayawada.
The infrastructure to be developed will be initially used to serve as the State Secretariat and related administrative blocks. This will come up on about 45 acres of land.
The State recently secured various approvals, including environmental for the development of infrastructure.
The Government has also approved the bids of infrastructure companies L&T and Shapoorji Pallonji for construction of various blocks for Secretariat.
Naidu thanked farmers for their cooperation in taking part in land pooling process for the development of new capital city of Amaravati on the banks of river Krishna.
The foundation stone was laid amidst Vedic chants.
