The ₹823-crore ‘Chhattisgarh A’ transmission project has seen only two bids so far from Adani Power and Sterlite Grid, even though eight companies had qualified for the same.
The qualified bidders for the project were Power Grid Corporation of India, L&T, Essel Infrastructure, Sterlite Grid, Jindal Power, Adani Power, Isolux and Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd.
Power Finance Corporation is handling the auction of the projects. Industry sources attributed the lack of interest in Chhattisgarh A project to the fact that the developer will have to cross 70 existing transmission lines in the region.
“It requires high level of expertise and technology to execute the project with least disturbance to power consumers, accidents and in a time-bound manner,” an industry official said.
For the other projects, including Chhattisgarh B worth ₹1,976 core, five out of the eight qualified bidders submitted bids. They are Power Grid Corporation, Adani, Sterlite Grid, Essel and KPTL.
For the ₹863-crore Sipat Power Grid project, Adani Power, Jindal Power, Sterlite Grid and KPTL are in the fray.
Bids for all the three projects were submitted on Tuesday. The projects are part of the government’s plan to auction ₹1 lakh crore worth of transmission projects.
