Rahul Gandhi savouring mirchi bajji and mandakki (puffed rice) at Kalmala in Raichur district. Gandhi is said to have paid the shack owner Maramma for the snacks. Gandhi is on a three-day pre-election tour of the Hyderabad Karnataka region covering Ballari, Koppal, Raichur, Yadgiri, Kalburgi and Bidar. Gandhi was joined by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC President Dr G Parameshwara, AICC Karnataka in-charge K C Venugopal, Karnataka Energy Minister D K Shivakumar and Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjuna Kharge.

The big problem facing India now is creating jobs for the youth, said Congress party President Rahul Gandhi. "When China is creating 50,000 jobs every 24 hours, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, despite launching 'Make in India', Start up India' and 'Digital India', has only created 450 to 500 jobs in the country, " Gandhi told a public rally in Raichur town, as part of his three-day North Karnataka tour.

To a cheering crowd, Rahul Gandhi said the BJP should come clean on party president Amit Shah son's business fortune. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on corruption in Karnataka, did he see in his rearview mirror B.S. Yedurappa and a few ministers who went to jail in corruption related cases, said Gandhi.

Farmers are not getting the right price for their produce because the BJP has stopped protecting farmers. Interacting with farmers and farmer-based organisations in Sindanoor (Raichur), Gandhi said the Congress considers farmers the country's backbone. "If we come to power in Delhi, we will establish a revolving fund to bail out farmers and provide the right minimum support price and waive farm loans."

Hitting back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi with his 'suit-boot ki sarkar' jibe, he said the NDA government at the Centre had last year written off loans of wealthy Indians worth Rs 1.30 lakh crore, while ignoring the farmers’ plight.
