All the city corporations in Karnataka will get motorbike ambulance facility, according to UT Khader, Karnataka Health Minister.

Launching the motorbike ambulance facility in Mangaluru on Tuesday, he said that the Government will be introducing 32 motorbike ambulances in the State. Of them, 20 will be used for providing the services in Bengaluru.

The paramedic, who operates the bike, will also provide basic services during the time of emergency.

The service was introduced in Bengaluru in April, and the response is good. In most of the cases, the bike ambulance has reached the spot within five minutes after getting the call, he said.

To a query on the criteria for stationing such ambulances, he said the decision to station a bike ambulance in a particular place will be taken in consultation with the emergency medical response service agency, which operates the ambulance service with a toll-free number ‘108’, he said. The agency has fixed hotspots for such services, he added.
