CM appeals to energy staff to resume work

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday appealed to striking power sector employees,

AP Genco and AP Transco, to resume their duties immediately and restore power supply.

He said lack of power supply could cause inconvenience to thousands of devotees congregating at Tirupati for Brahmotsavams.

He said their strike is seriously impacting consumers and vital services such as hospitals, drinking water supply, railways, and even temples.

At a high level review meeting with all the senior officials of energy department, Transco, Genco, Discoms at the Camp Office this afternoon, he called appealed to striking staff to get back to work.

on humanitarian grounds

The Chief Minister said since general public are suffering with no fault of theirs, the employees should rethink about their strike on humanitarian grounds and ensure there is no inconvenience.

He directed the State Chief Secretary and Director General of Police and other senior police officials to closely monitor the situation with District Superintendents of police and Collectors of Seemandhra area and ensure peace.

Strike by Seemandhra power staff against Telangana has adversely impacted power generation.
