CMA to try crowdsourcing for better urban governance

Our Bureau Updated - December 06, 2013 at 05:28 PM.

Commissionerate of Municipal Administration (CMA), Tamil Nadu, will try the 'crowdsourcing' concept to get ideas from IT professionals and students to develop software apps to improve urban governance.

In crowdsourcing, a group of people contribute ideas than traditional employees or suppliers. While this happens online, the CMA will try it offline through a two day Hackathon – Code for Urban Governance - a coding competition where IT professionals will provide ideas and concepts to improve urban governance.

The event will be held in Anna University on December 14 and 15 with Thought Works as the technology partner.

The CMA will provide up-to-date data from the 135 municipalities of Tamil Nadu for the event, and hopes to get ideas and applications that fuel a technologically-rich and efficient future for Tamil Nadu urban governance.
