The Coimbatore District Small Industries' Association (Codissia) is organising a vendor development programme in association with MSME Development Institute, Coimbatore.
The two-day event is being held on November 27 and 28 at the Codissia trade fair complex here with a view to assist the MSMEs in becoming vendors to large Central PSUs (CPSUs).
In a release, E K Ponnuswamy, President, Codissia, said the Central Government was implementing Central Public Procurement Policy for MSMEs with effect from April 2012 under which the CPSUs should source a minimum of 20 per cent of their stores/service requirements from MSMEs.
The expo would help, apart from creating awareness among entrepreneurs about the procurement policy of CPSUs, the MSMEs to register as vendors and benefit from their procurements. It would also provide an opportunity for large CPSUs to display products which they could source from the MSME sector.
He said while 90 of the participants were from the MSME and large industries, 10 others were large buyers like the railways, defence establishments and CPSUs like NLC, BEML. BEL, Instrumentation Ltd etc.
N Ilamparuthi, ED, SME & Conveyor/Mines, Neyveli Lignite Corporation, will inaugurate the expo in the presence of S Sivagnanam, Additional Industrial Advisor, Office of DC (MSME), New Delhi.
