The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has not taken any decision so far on the compensation to be awarded to the relatives of 20 persons killed in the LPG tanker tragedy at Chala in Kannur district on August 27.
This was stated by IOC in reply to an RTI query from D.B. Binu, general secretary, Human Rights Forum, here.
Asked about the details of the LPG tanker accidents in Kerala since January 1, 2005, the IOC said it was not in a position to provide the information as it was not being maintained by them.
The reply was given by A. Pandian, general manager & appellate authority, IOC, Kerala.
Twenty persons were killed and over 30 injured when the LPG tanker overturned and exploded after hitting a road divider. As many as 45 houses, 40 shops and 11 vehicles near the spot were destroyed.
