The Congress party has said that is ready to go for simultaneous polls provided the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) dissolves its governments in different States.

Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Monday, Jaiveer Shergill, national media panellist of Congress, said: “Congress dares BJP to dissolve all the States and hold the election together. We are ready for it.”

Terming ‘One nation one election’ as a ‘political lollipop’ by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah, Shergill said the Election Commission has discarded this idea. ‘One nation one election’ is against the basic idea of co-operative federalism, he said.

BJP throws up the bogey of one nation one election the day dalit atrocity happens or the lynching happens. He alleged that the BJP uses this to divert the attention from important topics.

If PM is such an advocate of ‘one nation one election’, BJP should dissolve governments in all the states and hold election, Shergill said.

Alleging that the government has indulged in a large-scale scam in the purchase of Rafale fighter planes, he said the Congress party had demanded an inquiry by the Joint Parliamentary Committee in this matter. Till date, the government has not agreed upon this demand. There will be protests by Congress all over the country in this matter, he said.

Congress will prove it to the nation that BJP is not a ‘corruption-free’ government, he said, adding that it is an ‘investigation-free’ government.
