YSR Congress Party President Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy has asked legislators belonging to Congress and Telugu Desam to pass a resolution in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly in favour of a united State.

Criticising Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Telugu Desam President N. Chandrababu Naidu for aiding efforts to divide the State, he appealed to the legislators to vote in favour of such resolution. “Don’t follow what Kiran Kumar Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu say. You must vote in favour of the resolution to keep the State intact,” he said.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he dismissed the idea of mooting a no-confidence motion against the Congress Government in the State. “There is no use going for such move now. Anyway, they are going to be dumped after 70 days when notification for elections is announced. What is important now is to pass a resolution in favour of united Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

Jaganmohan Reddy, who has been meeting leaders of ruling and opposition parties in various States, claimed that their response had been positive.

“I explained to them how they are dividing the State without seeking an Assembly resolution, misusing Article 3 of the Constitution. I asked them for their support to amend the Article 3. I told them the Centre could divide them as well in the future, if they fail to stop this division,” he said.
