The BJP has accused the Congress of looting the country’s precious natural resource such as coal and trying its best to cover up the whole issue. The Prime Minister was also a mere ‘rubber’ stamp, a senior BJP leader said here today.
Addressing a press conference here today, BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said Sonia Gandhi owes an explanation to the country on the issue, after the two books written by eminent personalities have exposed the party’s practices in the allocation of coal blocks by overlooking the Prime Minister’s Office. Referring to the former Coal Secretary PC Parakh and his book, the CBI investigation into the coal scam was superficial and was aimed to cover up the case, he said. It was an attempt to leave the UPA Government scot-free from the shady deals in the allocation of coal blocks.
“Every deal was a quid pro quo arrangement… ,” Javadekar alleged. Coal reserves of 17 billion tonnes were allotted to 140 private companies without following any due diligence and comparative appraisal, he said.
