4:15 PM After the JMM-Congress alliance in Jharkhand headed towards the majority mark, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram urged all non-BJP parties to raise their sights and rally around the Congress to save the Constitution.
“Dented in Haryana, Denied in Maharashtra, Defeated in Jharkhand. That is the story of the BJP in 2019. All non-BJP parties must raise their sights and rally around the Congress to save the Constitution of India,” he said on Twitter.
4 PM The JMM-Congress-RJD alliance surge ahead, with leads in 47 seats. JMM leads in 29 seats, INC in 14 and the RJD in 4. The BJP lead in 24 seats.
3:50 PM Commenting on the Jharkhand elections poll trends, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said that it verdict in favour of citizens.
3:40 PM The BJP still retains the lion's share of vote share. Of the total number of voters, 33 per cent have voted for the BJP. The JMM has a vote share of 19.5 per cent and the Congress has a vote share of 13 per cent.

3 PM The JMM-Congress-RJD combine is leading currently, with leads in 26, 12 and 4 seats respectively. In the 2014 assembly elections, the JMM and the Congress-RJD combine contested separately. However, they were a part of the coalition government, which was led by JMM's Hemant Soren, from 2013 to 2014. They parted ways over seat-sharing arrangements, and the JMM chose to plough a lonely furrow.
This time, the JMM contested in 43 seats, while the Congress fielded nominees in 31 constituencies and Lalu Prasad’s RJD in seven.
This time the BJP, had contested the election all by itself. This is the first time the party has done so, since the creation of Jharkhand in 2000. The BJPand its ally, the AJSU Party, could not come to a seat sharing agreement this time around. The BJP’s Bihar allies -- the JD(U) and LJP -- contested the elections on their own and none of their candidates was leading anywhere. The BJP contested 79 seats, supported an Independent candidate in one place and did not put up nominee against AJSU Party president Sudesh Mahto.
Hemant Soren, the leader of the opposition alliance, is ahead of his rivals in both Barhait and Dumka seats.
Several BJP ministers including CP Singh and Anil Kumar Bauri are leading, but Raj Paliwar was trailing. Dinesh Oraon, the Speaker of the outgoing assembly and BJP candidate, was also trailing in Madhupur.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and AJSU Party President Sudesh Mahto was leading by 12,515 votes over JMM candidate Seema Devi from his traditional Silli seat. Former Chief Minister and JVM(P) president Babulal Marandi was leading by 10,252 votes over his nearest rival Raj Kumar Yadav of CPI-ML (Liberation) in Dhanwar seat.
2:30 PM Here is the latest trends. The Congress-JMM alliance is leading in 41 seats with the BJP leading in 29 seats.
1:50 PM The Shiv Sena and the NCP hit out at the BJP.
“The people of Jharkhand have demolished the arrogance of Modiji, Amit Shah and BJP. Democracy has won,” NCP chief spokesperson Nawab Malik tweeted. Shiv Sena spokesperson Manisha Kayande said as the BJP looks set to lose Jharkhand after failing to retain power in Maharashtra, it raises question whether people are now trusting the Amit Shah-led party or not.
“They (BJP) earlier told people they will play politics of development, but are now engaging people in sentimental issues to distract their attention from the real issues...They seem to have been hit by raising of issues like the NRC,” Kayande said.
1:20 PM Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das was trailing behind his Independent rival Saryu Roy by 771 votes in Jamshedpur (East) constituency, as per trends available in the EC website till 1 pm on Monday.
Das, the BJP candidate, has secured 13,708 votes, while Roy got 14,479 votes so far.
Roy, a former Jharkhand minister, had quit the Raghubar Das cabinet and the BJP after he was denied a ticket from Jamshedpur (West) seat, from where he had won in the 2014 polls.
On the other hand, opposition JMM-Congress-RJD alliance chief ministerial candidate Hemant Soren is leading from Barhait and Dumka seats by 8,616 and 3,188 votes respectively. Former chief minister and JVM(P) founder Babulal Marandi was leading by 9,416 votes over his nearest rival Raj Kumar Yadav of CPI-ML(Liberation) in Dhanwar seat

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das is leading in Jamshedpur (East) seat over independent candidate Saryu Roy by 1,449 votes. Urban Development Minister and BJP candidate CP Singh is leading by 1,616 votes over his nearest JMM rival Mahua Maji in Ranchi seat. Labour Minister and BJP candidate Raj Paliwar is leading by 1,593 votes over his nearest JMM rival Haji Hussain Ansari in Madhupur seat. However, Jharkhand Assembly Speaker and BJP candidate Dinesh Oraon is trailing by over 6,000 votes in Sisai seat.
The JMM is leading in Baharagora, Borio, Chaibasa, Chakradharpur, Dumri, Ghatsila, Garhwa, Ichagarh, Gumla, Kharasawan, Littipara and Maheshpur seats. Hemant Soren, the Opposition's Chief Ministerial candidate and JMM working president, is leading in Barhait seat over BJP’s Simon Malto by 1,672 votes. However, in Dumka seat, Hemant Soren is trailing by 7,858 votes behind Welfare Minister and BJP candidate Lois Marandi.
The seats where the Congress is leading are Barkagaon, Barhi, Bermo, Jagannathpur and Bokaro, while the RJD is ahead in Deoghar, Chatra, Chattarpur and Godda constituencies. The BSP is leading in Bishrampur and Hussainabad seats while the AJSU Party is ahead in Jusalai and Gomia constituencies.
In the in Chandankiyari seat, Uma Kant Rajak of AJSU Party is enjoying a thin lead of over 1,260 votes over his nearest rival, Amar Kumar Bauri of the BJP. Bauri is the State's Revenue and Land Reforms Minister.

10:24 AM As initial trends for Jharkhand elections were available, the the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance is better placed to go the next government in the State.
The stand of AJSU and JVM, two former allies of the BJP, is going to be crucial as the UPA is short of two seats from the magic number 42 in the 82-member Assembly.
The initial trends show that the JMM-led UPA is leading in 40 seats, 16 seats more than the last polls. JMM and Congress were leading in 25 and 17 seats respectively. The BJP was leading in 29 seats. This is less than eight seats than the last elections. The JVM was leading in four seats and the AJSU in three seats.

8 AM Counting of votes for 81 Assembly constituencies in Jharkhand began at 8 AM on Monday, Election Commission officials said. The election was held in five phases between November 30 and December 20.

Among the prominent candidates are Chief Minister Raghubar Das from Jamshedpur East, the chief ministerial candidate of the opposition JMM, Congress, RJD alliance Hemant Soren from Dumka and Barhait and former chief minister Babulal Marandi, also the president of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik), from Dhanwar.
Counting began at 8 AM in all the district headquarters, the officials said.
Postal ballots will be taken up first and votes polled in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) will begin at 8:30 AM, they said.
