Karnataka Election Watch (KEW), which has analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 218 out of the 223 newly elected MLAs in the Karnataka 2013 Assembly Elections, said Crorepati MLAs have increased by 93 per cent compared with 63 per cent in 2008.
The following are the highlights of KEW analysis.
Crorepati MLAs: 93 per cent or 203 MLAs out of the 218 analysed are crorepatis. In 2008, 63 per cent MLAs were crorepatis.
Party-wise Crorepati MLAs:
Indian National Congress (INC) – 95 per cent or 112 out of 118 MLAs analysed are crorepatis.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) - 93 per cent or 37 out of 40 MLAs are crorepatis.
Janata Dal (Secular) – 95 per cent or 36 out of 38 MLAs are crorepatis.
