Cyberpark at Kozhikode to be inaugurated on Saturday

Cyberpark will come up in a prime location by the side of a proposed four-lane bypass road within the corporation area but off city limits.

Cyberpark-Kozhikode, the third major IT destination in Kerala after Technopark-Thiruvananthapuram and Infopark-Kochi, will be inaugurated on Saturday.

This will bethe most prominent IT destination in the vast stretch of land between Kochi and Mangalore, an official spokesperson said.

The terrain itself is windy, and provides for healthy ambience with zero water logging.

Arterial roads within the premises, compound walls and retaining walls have been completed to high standards of construction.

Kerala State IT Infrastructures, a public sector undertaking, will take up construction of a 20-MW electrical substation as also a second IT building here.

Total investment by government in Cyberpark will exceed ₹250 crore within next two years. Both SEZ and non-SEZ options will be available soon.

Other initiatives Other major initiatives of the government in IT infrastructure will be the Technology Innovation Zone at Kalamassery in Ernakulam and the ICT Academy in Thiruvananthapuram. Technocity, also in Thiruvananthapuram, will get a major boost with implementation of the Global Learning Centre being set up by TCS at an estimated cost of ₹3,600 crore.

Infosys will set up its second development campus at Technocity. Construction on the SmartCity project at Kochi has also taken off.

Kerala has earmarked over 1,500 acres exclusively for IT parks at 10 locations in the State, the spokesperson said. Over 65,000 IT professionals are currently employed in the IT parks.
