Cyient Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the engineering services firm Cyient, has launched a skill development programme to train 3,500 students from 19 engineering colleges.

Announcing this here on Tuesday, B V R Mohan Reddy, Trustee of the foundation and Chairman of Cyient, has said that the move was aimed at making the students industry ready and employable.

The skill development programme would be handled by the training firm Global Talent Track (GTT). It will deploy customized talent development solutions that helped bridge the gap between the industry requirements and the academic offerings.

“Less than 25 per cent of engineering graduates find suitable jobs. We will groom engineering students on a large scale, through quality training programmes aimed at equipping them with industry-relevant skills,” B V R Mohan Reddy, who is also the Vice-Chairman of Nasscom, said.

The foundation has launched another initiative to increase digital literacy in the neighbourhood communities.

“We will identify about 2,000 community members, one from each family, and make them digitally literate,” he said.
