The Government has extended the deadline for filing of income-tax returns for taxpayers in calamity hit Uttarakhand till October 31.
The Central Board of Direct Direct Taxes (CBDT), the apex body for framing policies of the I-T Department, had issued orders in this regard yesterday.
All the assessees residing or those being assessed in Uttarakhand will stand to benefit from this decision, a senior official said.
The regular deadline for filing of I-T returns by salaried and individual class of taxpayers is July 31.
