Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday informed Lieutenant Governor of the State, Najeeb Jung, that if the private electricity distribution utilities (discoms) continue their inability to supply power, the regulator would suspend their licenses and take over the management of the companies.
“I am bringing this most serious matter to your notices as the Government itself may have to step in at some stage, to control the ugly situation which may be created by the three private discoms,” Kejriwal wrote to Jung.
The Aam Admi party Chief Minister added, “If still discoms claim inability to supply power due to their financial difficulties, there may not be any alternative with the DERC (Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission) but to suspend/revoke their licences and takeover the management of the companies.”
