The Government is making all efforts to end the impasse on the first day of the second part of the Budget session of Parliament.
A number of meetings happened inside the House between the Congress leaders and floor leaders of various parties.
Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari have also met several leaders to ensure smooth functioning of the House.
The House will reconvene at 2 p.m. A number of notices are before the House to discuss issues such as coal scam, leakage of JPC report, political murders in West Bengal and rapes in the Capital city.
It is going to be a tough task for the Centre to placate the Opposition. Opposition parties have maintained that it was the Congress who is responsible for the adjournments of the House.
Earlier, bothe the Houses were adjourned till 2 p.m. as the Opposition parties demanded discussion on these issues. There was no unanimity on what topic should be taken first.
The Prime Minister had said in the morning that he was “very confident” that Parliament will transact financial and other business in the remaining part of the Budget session.
The Government, he said, was willing for a debate on any issue. “Important financial business is before the House. There are also important Bills like the Food Security Bill and the Land Acquisition Bill, which require to be passed. It is my sincere wish that the House should be allowed to function,” he told reporters outside Parliament House.
