A number of drones have been deployed in the capital region of Amaravati in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh to conduct aerial survey of lands.
The exercise taken up by the State Government is aimed at gathering the land data from this aerial at a much faster pace compared to the physical process, which takes months, according to State Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P Narayana.
Several drones have been pressed into service to conduct an aerial survey of an extent of about 217 sq.km where the capital city would come up.
A Singapore based agency Surbana, which has been engaged as a consultancy and service provider, has taken up the survey for the State.
According to the Minister, it will take about 10 days to complete the aerial survey with these unmanned vehicles fitted with high resolution cameras.
About 25 sq.km can be covered on one day and it would take about 10 days to complete the process.
The State Government has taken this up to expedite the land survey process so that the land required for the capital development and those to be handed over to the farmers would be segregated based on the plan.
Once the process is completed, land close to the villages where farmers parted with their land would be handed over to them. While the land to be handed back would be a fully developed one, the allotment of land would be made based on a lottery system.
