The Centre is open to revision in the labour budget under the rural job scheme in states that are facing drought-like conditions.
The provision will be made for the current financial year to meet the increased demand for employment, especially among agricultural labour.
The Ministry has already written to Chief Ministers asking them to identify projects under the Mahatma National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme to ensure work for farm labour in drought-hit areas, according to a Rural Development Ministry release.
State Governments have also been advised to prepare a supplementary shelf of projects to meet the increased demand for work with emphasis on water and soil conservation, Minister of State for Rural Development Pradeep Jain said in the Rajya Sabha recently.
