Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), a joint venture of PSUs under the Ministry of Power, is taking up four major renewable energy projects in Andhra Pradesh entailing an investment of Rs 3,730 crore. Saurabh Kumar, Managing Director, said 10,000 electric vehicles and 4,000 chargers would be supplied to various Government departments in the state as part of the green initiative. As many as 17 lakh smart metres would be supplied to power distribution companies in the state.
Further, EESL is also setting up a 450 MW solar power project along with the AP Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd (APSPDCL) in phases, entailing investment of Rs 1,950 crore. He said four MoUs were signed with the state government at the recently-concluded CII partnership summit here for the purpose. "These projects, spanning e-mobility, energy efficiency and renewable energy, will create over 15,000 jobs and save costs of up to Rs 3,185 crore," he said.
He said Andhra Pradesh had always been a front-runner in adopting energy-efficient and renewable energy solutions. Other states should emulate AP.
