The Election Commission of India has issued permission to Andhra Pradesh Government for the Bhoomi Pooja to be held on June 6 for construction of new capital city.
Bhanwarl Lal, Chief Electoral Officer Andhra Pradesh and Telangana permitted the State not only to lay the foundation stone for the AP Agricultural University, Bhoomi Pooja for new capital city and also presentation of a report card on the achievements of the new Government during one year period by the Council of Ministers on June 8, 2015.
This comes in the backdrop of model code of conduct now in place due to elections to the Sate Legislative Council. However, the permission is subject to several conditions. These include there shall be no promise of announcement of any new scheme/programme for local authorities or local members during the event.
